Based in Montreal East, Canada, the CCR Refinery refines copper using electrolysis, which is the final phase of its conversion prior to marketing. The company, which began operations in 1931, now has 550 employees: some 400 in production and 150 in administration. The CCR Refinery has an annual processing capacity of 370,000 tonnes of copper and also produces precious metals such as gold, silver, platinum and palladium. The CCR Refinery is an integral part of Glencore who is one of the largest global diversified natural resource companies in the world. It employs 146,000 people in more than 50 countries.
